Join us for our Thursday, August 3, Government Affairs meeting featuring Senator Josh Newman. California State Senator Josh Newman represents California’s 29th Senate District and is running for re-election in 2024 to represent California’s recently redrawn 37th Senate District, which covers portions of north and central Orange County. He currently serves as Chair of the Senate Committee on Education and the Senate Select Committee on Transitioning to a Zero Emission Energy Future, as well as a member on the senate committees for Transportation; Elections & Constitutional Amendments; Energy, Utilities and Communication; Budget & Fiscal Review; and the Select Committee on Hydrogen. He also serves on the State Allocations Board and as the State Senate’s ex officio representative to the California Transportation Commission.
Prior to his election in 2016, Senator Newman’s professional experience included service as an officer in the United States Army; executive-level positions for a series of start-ups in the Internet and mobile technology sectors; and as the founder of an initiative to assist young military veterans in the Orange County/Greater Los Angeles area in their pursuit of rewarding, career-oriented post-service employment. He is a graduate of Yale University, with a BA in History. He and his wife reside in Fullerton with their daughter and their four weird but lovable rescue Chihuahuas.
